The York-Eglinton Business Improvement Area (BIA) represents the 200+ businesses and property owners in the commercial district along Eglinton Avenue West between Marlee Avenue and Dufferin Street. Formed in 1981, it is one of the oldest BIAs to be recognized and approved City of Toronto.
The BIA strengthens the economic health and livability of the neighbourhood through strategic investments in the public realm, cultural programming, brand awareness and advocacy on behalf of all members.
We are part of the Toronto Association of Business Improvement Areas (TABIA) and the Ontario Association of Business Improvement Areas (OBIAA).
The York-Eglinton BIA serves the commercial district along Eglinton Avenue West between Marlee Avenue and Dufferin Street, and along the north side of Dufferin to Whitmore Avenue.
Often referred to as the commercial backbone of the city, York-Eglinton neighbourhood is easily accessible by TTC and Highway 401 via the Allen Expressway. It is the future home of both the Oakwood and Fairbank Eglinton LRT stations.
We envision a York-Eglinton area that is economically successful, welcoming and attractive both within the local community and for visitors from elsewhere.
To enable this vision the BIA will provide responsive and transparent leadership through business support, promotions, advocacy and continue to deliver safety, maintenance and beautification initiatives.
- Supportive of local businesses in the area;
- Responsive to the needs of businesses in the area;
- Collaborative with businesses, community organizations, government and private sector to achieve goals;
- Inclusive of diverse ideas and opinions in the decision-making process;
- Innovative in considering new and ‘out-of-the-box’ ideas.
